Frustrated by the lack of down-to-earth, accessible information on topics that were of particular personal concern to us, Randy and I decided to write our own books to answer that need. It was then that 2LAKES PUBLISHING and the 10 Thing to Know series was born, generating books that are “Long on information when you're short on time."

    Why books on these particular subjects? Because they that mean a lot to us. Randy is deathly allergic to poison ivy/oak/sumac and Heidi is almost as sensitive to stinging insects (hence Poison Ivy, Pets, & People and Bees & Other Stinging Insects) so those were the first two books we felt compelled to write. We wanted people to have the same information we needed but couldn't get--facts on treatments, symptoms, eradication, homeopathy, conventional medicine, and identification. But these books are wrapped in an easy-to-read format with personal stories by the authors. Happily, both books have achieved the status of "bibles" to many in the gardening  industry, so I can honestly say we feel successful in getting the message out there.

    The impetus for our third book was the same...but this time it was about how to help people find their right mates the way we did. After all, the world of dating and relationships is tough enough without having to wade through tons of bad advice, the kind that only serves to confuse and sadden. When Randy and I finally found each other it didn't take long before we realized we had put some pretty powerful universal laws (like the biggy, the Law of Attraction) into use, and we felt what we'd learned could serve as a guide for others with the same search in mind (and soul).  Writing From Your Lips To God's Ear...Finding Your Right Mate In 10 Easy Steps was an exercise in love and devotion, and since its inception we've received lots of great feedback telling us that the message works! Seminars I've personally conducted using From Your Lips... as a guide have also been reported to change people's thoughts, mindsets, and lives.
